Anyone into their cars and motorsports?

I was thinking that Hill climb locations could make pretty good locations for some downhill action (mostly due to gravity and a decent surface).

This was the nearest one I could find:

Anyone know Forrestburn?

Post subject:  Session Report from Forrestburn

Mini trip report:

Two of us headed out on Monday morning...due to booze and a BBQ on sunday night it was 9-30 before we managed to leave the house!

It was a bit further away than imagined, probably about 20 mins out the M8.
Image

First impressions: Beautiful isloated surroundings, butter smooth tarmac with quite short and steep sections, technical corners and some long level sections....
Image

First runs were tentative: not too far up the hill...a nice mellow left hander on to a level straight and then dropping slightly in to a deceptively tight right hander which then gave way to a gentle up hill run out.

The right hander caught me out on the second run: I buried my front trucks up to the bushings in the mud:

We worked our way up the hill over the course of the morning...each time getting more and more used to the tight right hander...by the end of the days skating the Evo on fishballs was drifting round the corner beautifully.

Final run we decided to go from the upper corner...the gradient is about 1:2 for the start! so rather than a push start its more like dropping in!
By the time you've hit the left hander its no longer mellow, rather its a full rail grab as you bomb not glide round it on to the level straight...the dip before the right hander comes up on you quickly...theres little time to set up so its down and give it everything to get round the final corner...if you make it then its a run out...catch your breath and grin!
Image

We one rode one hill (on the motorsports video in the skating thread its featured at 28 - 40 seconds), but there is scope for slalom in the long finishing straight...also there might be another run round the back of the hill...I didn't get to check it out.

This is a bit of a find...definately worth checking out if you have a car...I'll post next time i go if anyone else fancies it...Its definately helmet and pads kind of place...(not least because there is no hospital near by)

Photos to follow.

Cheers
Will

Looks like a good find - how do you think it would be for a sliding session? Will def check it out anyway.

The surface would be good (but residual rubber form the cars might make it a bit sticky) and the gradient would be good, but the steep drops might be a bit short and the track is quite narrow!.

but if you are heading out give me a shout, i'm up for going again.

Will.

3 of us hit Forrestburn this afternoon (spur of the moment session). 30 mins from Edinburgh - shit load of fun! I've got some vid I'll try to put up later. Short runs but adrenalin-fuelled - the sharp right is a belter! The steep bottom hill was slidey as for slidey-ass stuff (see what I did there!) May head up tomorrow morning for an hour or two (or Perth for sliding, not sure yet)
Great find! - Lets try Doune next!

That looks amazing guys! I used to go up to Doune with a couple of m8s who raced. really smooth but track might be a bit narrow with nowhere to bail because of the barriers. OK if your good at footbreaking or can rival Linford Christie on the track.

Def up for the challenge tho!
